Meet Chris & Janis

Captain Chris

Chris grew up sailing the tropical waters of Hawaii. After moving to Alaska in 1995, he knew it wouldn’t be long before he was exploring the area by boat. Both Prince William Sound and Resurrection Bay have provided endless opportunities to enjoy incredible scenery, wildlife, beaches and camaraderie. During the summer, he looks forward to sharing these experiences with locals and visitors. He holds a 50 ton US Coast Guard Master’s License with a Sail endorsement, has worked as a sailing instructor, and enjoys helping people learn the joy of operating a sailboat.

Captain Janis

Janis grew up in Valdez, enjoying the occasional weekend fishing and boating in Prince William Sound. She attended a women’s sailing course in Bellingham, WA where she became ASA certified in Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Cruising. In 2022, she and Chris bareboated a 45’ catamaran in the US Virgin Islands and spent two weeks hosting family and friends in the Caribbean. Since 2020, she and Chris have been living aboard during the summer months making memories and exploring coastal Alaska.
